Yoast United contracteert Josh Ferguson
Yoast United versterkt zich aankomend seizoen met de Amerikaan Josh Ferguson. De 24-jarige power forward komt over van AEL uit Cyprus en tekent een contract voor één seizoen.
De 2.03 lange Ferguson, geboren in Miami Florida, speelde zijn collegecarrière bij Winthrop University, uitkomend in de Big South Conference. In zijn senior jaar bij de ‘Eagles’ scoorde hij gemiddeld 11.5 punten en pakte daarnaast 6.5 rebounds. Afgelopen seizoen was hij actief in de Cyprische competitie en viel op door zijn veelzijdigheid: ‘‘Josh is een atletische, hardwerkende speler die zijn meerwaarde op verschillende vlakken laat zien. Naast scorend vermogen, pakte hij afgelopen seizoen gemiddeld ruim 11 rebounds, waarvan meer dan 3 aanvallend. Daarbij deelt hij ook nog 3 assists per wedstrijd uit. Voor onze 4 positie en het spel dat we willen spelen is dit precies wat we zochten,‘’ aldus coach Paul Vervaeck.
Josh over zijn stap naar Yoast United en de BNXT League: ‘’Ik heb met verschillende mensen van de staff en organisatie gesproken en ik kreeg van iedereen hetzelfde gevoel, de ambitie en de togetherness sprak me erg aan. We hebben allemaal hetzelfde doel voor ogen, dat helpt enorm. Het enige wat we nu nog moeten doen is aan het werk! Voor mijn gevoel is dit de beste situatie voor mij als een speler en ik ben klaar om die kans aan te grijpen.’’
Het team van Yoast United krijgt steeds meer vorm: ‘’Naast Kaleb Warner, Bob Berghuis, Nesta Agasi, Duane Wilson, Lucas N’Guessan en Josh Ferguson zullen we de aankomende weken de vier overige selectiespelers presenteren. Plek elf en twaalf op het rooster zijn voor de talenten van de United Academy en de Dreamfields Dolphins,’’ aldus Anouk Biesters, technische zaken Yoast United.

Josh Ferguson newest addition Yoast United
Yoast United signed American Josh Ferguson for upcoming season in the BNXT League. The 24-year-old power forward comes over from AEL from Cyprus and signs a contract for one season.
Born in Miami Florida, 2.03 tall Josh played his college career at Winthrop University, playing in the Big South Conference. In his senior year with the Eagles, he averaged 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Last season he played in the Cypriot league and showed that he is a versatile player: "Josh is an athletic, hard-working player who shows added value on both ends on the floor. In addition to his scoring ability, he averaged more than 11 rebounds last season, more than 3 of which were offensive. He also hands out 3 assists per game. For our big man position and the type of basketball we want to play, this is exactly what we are looking for," said coach Paul Vervaeck.
Josh about his transfer to Yoast United and the BNXT League: ‘’I was able to speak with different members of the staff, on separate occasions, and get the same sense of ambition, productivity and togetherness. I like that we all share the same vision for the organization, this eliminates a lot of distractions. Now all we have to do is put the work in. I feel like this is the best situation that was presented to me as a player and I am ready for the opportunity.’’
Yoast United continues to build the roster for the 20-21 season: ''In addition to Kaleb Warner, Bob Berghuis, Nesta Agasi, Duane Wilson, Lucas N'Guessan and Josh Ferguson, we will present the four remaining players in the upcoming weeks. Spots eleven and twelve on the roster are for the talents of the United Academy and the Dreamfields Dolphins," according to Anouk Biesters, Yoast United.
